Toronto: December 5, 2012 — Media Monkey Productions Inc. announced today that it has garnered a Pixie Platinum Award, (the highest level) for ‘Best Animation’ for their feature documentary film Operation Oblivion and a Pixie Gold Award for ‘Best Title Graphics’ for their documentary series opener Open Doors.  The awards were adjudicated by the prestigious American Pixel Academy.

Operation Oblivion is the remarkable story of a group of 12 Chinese Canadian civilians who decided to volunteer for Operation Oblivion – a suicide mission that would parachute this ‘Dirty Dozen’ into the heart of the Pacific to fight the Japanese – all without any support or recognition from their government. Open Doors: The secret life of luxury hotels is a documentary series that gives viewers unique access to the behind- the-scenes, inner workings of six of the world’s most storied hotels.

“With Operation Oblivion we strove to tell this incredible true story in the most accessible and engaging manner and were fortunate to have an incredible animation team headed by Kevin Micallef (Detentionaire, Eight Crazy Nights, Curious George) to bring to life some of the secret training sequences.  On Open Doors we created an opening sequence that hints to the ‘upstairs, downstairs’ culture at these iconic locations,” commented Jeff Halligan, President of Media Monkey Productions and director for both documentaries.

Operation Oblivion is produced by Micol Marotti and Brad Lee, directed by Jeff Halligan and funded by Omni Television and the Government of Canada, Community Historical Recognition Program.  Open Doors: The secret life of luxury hotels is narrated by Isabella Rossellini and funded by RTI Mediaset.

The Pixie Awards recognizes outstanding work in animation, motion graphics and special effects, the fastest-growing area in the world of video and TV production.  The 4th annual Pixie Awards received entries from all over North America.
